Every Monday I write a series of writing goals for myself, (and I post these on Threads @janetheauthor) one of my daily goals, was to write poetry everyday.
And last week I really took to it. Writing a poem everyday, and engaging with the part of me, that makes me a poet.
On Monday I entered @threadlitmag ‘s poetry competition for March, I answered their prompt. I don’t know yet whether I have been successful as I am still waiting to hear back but I am taking that as a good sign that I have not yet been rejected.
Through out the week I wrote whenever I had a few spare moments, taking inspiration from whatever was around me. Whether it was graffiti I saw in my home town that led me to write a poem on a bus. Or a phrase uttered in a zoom meeting that caused me to throw out a few lines, whilst I put myself on mute.
None of these poems are polished but each were written, all were short; less than 10 lines. And certainly most were hasty.
But everyone was poetry.
