Why should you read Not All There? It’s a valid question, there are so many books, short stories, and novellas out there today and there’s not enough time to read them all. So why this one?
The world is changing fast and we don’t have time to keep up with it, yesterday I thought I was having a really good day but by the time I went to bed two more things had happened and it turned out to be a bad day. I think that is emblematic of how fast our world is moving. There isn’t time to take it all in. So what does this have to do with reading Not All There? I’m getting to it.
I think the number one thing we don’t have time to do is grieve these changes, or grieve at all. We are expected to move on from things so quickly, terrible tragedies on the news, a friend moving away. There isn’t time in the day to cope with the emotional whiplash. Taking the time out to read Not All There has been an opportunity to do that. And yes, I know we are all still pressed for time that’s why I’ve kept this post (and the novella) short. Go on Claude’s journey with him, let yourself grieve, we all need to take some time at some point.
